My husband, Bill, and I spent 2 weeks in Cuernavaca studying Spanish at TLALOC last December. We had a wonderful time! Bill was a rank beginner, but Alfredo is such an amazing teacher -he'll go to great lengths to help you understand .He gets you speaking Spanish right away and stresses practical conversation, teaching you the phrases you need get out there and feel confident to speak to people on the street and in the market. If, like us, you are interested in learning more about Mexican culture, Alfredo happily explains it to you (in simple Spanish, of course). His approach is very personalized he goes beyond the call of duty to make sure your stay is pleasant and enjoyable. He showed us around Cuernavaca, which is a safe and interesting city to visit. He took us to some great salsa dancing places, and even found us our own teachers! I was beyond the beginner Spanish level, and my teacher, Norma, helped me get a better grasp of verbs and the use of different tenses in practical situations. My understanding improved tremendously under her ever-patient and friendly care. Also, I would recommend staying with a Mexican family- the place we stayed at was clean and comfortable, the food was simple and delicious, and we had much more opportunity to practice our Spanish. Everyone was friendly and fun-loving-they even took us to a rodeo and a great Mexican circus! All in all we had a very rich learning and cultural experience and I'd go back in a New York minute.

Alfredo did a nice job touring us for the day. He was very accomodating and possibly in the future he should try and connect bettter with the orphanage before hand. He was nice and wanted us to have fun and get out of our trip everything that we wanted.

Thank you for assisting us in such a life changing experience in Cuernavaca, Mexico. I appreciate the connection to the orphanage and want you to know how special it was for me to meet these children. It truly changed my life and made me realize there is so much more out there than the life I have in Minnesota. I hope you have positive experiences with American students in the future and wish you the best of luck.

Thank you so much for letting us work with your school and connecting us with the orphanage. It was a wonderful experience. Everyone was so helpful and kind and the kids will always have a place in my heart. It was my fourth trip to Cuernavaca but surely not my last.

Alfredo from TLALOC found a wonderful host family for me. I felt like part of their family and they went out of their way to make me feel welcome. We had many fabulous adventures together and it will be an experience that I will never forget. My new “Mexican Family” and I keep in touch and they will forever be in my heart.

For three weeks during December 2005 and January 2006 I had the opportunity to volunteer at the CCAS/DIF Orphanage located at Temixco Morelos. This proved to be a very rewarding experience. The staff and the kids at this location were very welcoming. I am still planning on a return visit in the near future. My host family included me in everything that took place and took good care of me. They left the doors of the house open for a future visit. Prof. Martinez took care of my welfare and showed me around during the first days. He even invited me to his birthday party.
So, if you are looking for a place to learn Spanish, or simply volunteer, don't miss this opportunity. You won't be disappointed.

My experience at Mexico was wonderful. Contrary to others, I only went for volunteering, because Spanish is my first language.
I loved Cuernavaca and its surroundings, but most of all to help as a volunteer. At the orphanage I volunteered, I had the opportunity to play with the kids and help out with daily duties. I would recommend it to everyone !!

My class at TLALOC was a great experience. I needed a refresher
and greater understanding of some concepts I did not understand
well from other classes. My teacher was very dynamic in his visual
expressions of words and abstracted ideas. TLALOC introduced me
to the local culture and my host family was very friendly!

I spent three months in Mexico and when I first arrived I spoke absolutely no Spanish at all. I spent the first 4 weeks of my vacation studying Spanish and learning about Mexican Culture. After only four weeks I was able to get all over the city and some of the country-side by myself without problems. TLALOC's teachers really tailored their lesson plans to the areas of Spanish I wanted to focus on and I found that to be a huge benefit. Also, TLALOC helped me find a room in a home with a Mexican family. I found this to be inexpensive and very helpful with my learning process. I really enjoyed my stay in Cuernavaca and I cannot wait to come back! Thanks a lot TLALOC!

I have studied one week at the Tlaloc School in March 2005. I have found the atmosphere friendly and my teacher well organized. The class was small and this allowed for ample opportunity to converse. I have studied Spanish at night school and for 3 weeks in Costa Rica and I have found that after a week at Tlaloc I was able to comprehend more quickly. I would return to this school without hesitation if the opportunity presented itself.

My wife and I studied Spanish in Cuernavaca at TLALOC for the first week of a four week vacation in Mexico . We are in our fifties and retired. It is our goal to spend a few months a year doing humanitarian work in Middle and South America so we are putting the building block in place of learning the language now. My wife has already studied Spanish before and was given more advanced training by a different instructor. I had never studied Spanish before and was starting from "ground zero". I had one-on-one training by Alfredo, my instructor. In one week we got through all of the basic level material and had started on the intermediate level. By the end of our month in Mexico I am capable of doing many things in Spanish, and am fairly sure that after another week or so of training, and a few more weeks of immersion, that I can become conversational.

My girlfriend and I began traveling through Mexico without any prior knowledge of Spanish. After two months we could buy things and get vague, hand-waving directions, but we wanted to communicate more clearly. While in Cuernavaca we met Alfredo and he convinced us to take a week of classes with him. It was the best decision that we have made in Mexico . While we only had time for 5 days of lessons, it has improved our trip immensely. We are no longer hesitant to talk to people and can even carry on conversations with people we meet along the way. I would highly recommend Tlaloc.

My boyfriend and I heard about Tlaloc while in Cuernavaca after two months in Mexico on a backpacking trip. Alfredo, the instructor, convinced us to take a week of lessons with his school to improve our conversational Spanish. The teaching techniques used at Tlaloc are both effective and fun. We took advantage of the opportunity to stay with a Mexican family for extra practice. This experience was a welcome and friendly change from hotels and hostels and we felt right at home. Cuernavaca is a great, safe city to spend a few weeks in and Tlaloc is a great place to learn Spanish.
