Instituto TLALOC believes that a very important source of help for acquiring the Spanish language is by living with a native family because they play an important roll for the foreign students because all the students get in touch with the original way of the Latin life in a daily basis. First of all, since most of the families do not speak any other language but Spanish, this is a great opportunity to force and encourage the foreign students to practice what they have been learning lately. Not only is it great to live with a Mexican family to practice Spanish with them, but also to have the chance of tasting the traditional home made dishes from Mexico.

For these and many other reasons, our living accommodations are arranged in any of our several Mexican host families' homes who are really interested in having international students living with them.

We accommodate every single student according to his or her personal choice or own available possibilities.

Our options for the home stay come in several choices:

»Luxury: Consists on having a private or shared lodging with 3 meals, 1 meal, or no meals at all. In a big fancy place, with gardens & swimming pool, smoking free environment & no pets at all. * The rates are per night and per person.

» Regular: Consists on having a private or shared lodging with 3 meals, 1 meal or no meals at all. In a typical house, not very fancy, there probably won’t be gardens or swimming pools. * The rates are per night and per person.

We strongly recommend the lodging with a Mexican family. That's the best complement for the students in order to become acquainted with the language in a faster way. Students find this easier and better for the cultural program.
Remember not to hesitate asking for further info or to suggest a new way to provide a place to stay. We promise to do our best to find the appropriate home stay according to each request, even though, in some cases we may not be able to provide what the students had requested (specially when they come in a special season or a lot of people had probably requested the same thing) However, we'll still try to do our best to accommodate everyone in the right place! There are also free room & board in some areas.

You can ask for hotels in Cuernavaca. They could be a good option for you too. We can give you information about it, or perhaps we can help you find a nice furnished apartment or room where you can stay and pay a little less!

Family´s description

Ms. Columba´s family. Regular without swimming pool nor garden.

Her house is about 15-20 minutes riding the bus from both (the hospital for the children and the orphanage) & about 5-10 minutes to Cuernavaca´s Downtown better known as "El Zocalo". It doesn´t have a garden or pool. She hosts other students from abroad who come from another Spanish school. Columba has a lovely daughter named Sonia who is about 17 years old, also Columba´s sister Claudia who is about 39 years old lives there, Claudia is the person who cooks & you´ll love her meals! Claudia has a son named Alex who is about 7 years old and in this house there aren´t any pets at all. This house is also a Mexican restaurant on the weekends, they sell "Pozole" and has wireless internet included. The costs are $28.00 USD staying in a single room and private bathroom, and $22.00 USD if choosing to have a double room and shared bathroom. $24.00 USD when staying 3 or more persons in the same big nice chamber on the top floor called "El Paraiso" that Ms. Columba has available. 
 
Ms. Mabe´s family. (María Isabel) Luxury with a swimming pool and a huge garden.

Her house is so nice and she has a garden and a swimming pool, she also hosts students from all over (both, Mexican and foreigners). Her house is the most beautiful place that TLALOC has available with all the services including internet. Is about 10-15 minutes away walking from the Children´s Hospital, and you´ll have to take a bus in order to get to the orphanage and the Human Rights office in 10-15 minutes. Ms. Mabe is a single mother and she has 2 lovely girls whose ages are around 18 (Annette) and 15 years old (Mariana). This family also has a dog named "Tracy". Mabe knows how to cook amazing Mexican dishes and has plenty of experience dealing with foreigners. Her house costs $33.00 USD staying in a single room, private bathroom, and $25.00 USD or the equivalent in your currency if choosing to have a double room and shared bathroom.

Ms. Lety´s family. Regular without a swimming pool nor garden.

Her house is kind of far and it will take you like 20-30 minutes to get to the Hospital for the children and/or the orphanage by bus. She has a really small garden and no pool. Her house is nice and she cooks so delicious Mexican food. She doesn´t really hosts any students, although, she´s a Spanish teacher and has plenty of experience in dealing with foreigners. She has a lovely daughter named Laura who is around 25-26 years old, her husband is also a Spanish teacher and loves soccer and is a very funny person too. They have cats in their house only. The costs are $26.00 USD staying in a single room and private bathroom, and $20.00 USD if choosing to have a double room and shared bathroom.
 
Ms. Laura´s family. Regular with a garden but no swimming pool.

(This lady is the president and founder of a new association for helping those who most needed) Her house is about 40 minutes outside from Cuernavaca just to the south (like going on the freeway to Acapulco) She lives in a nice neighbourhood, she has 2 kids, Cesar who is about 9, and Minerva who is about 3 years old. The costs for living here are $23.00 USD staying in a single room & private bathroom, and $18.00 USD staying in a double room and shared bathroom.  In here there are possibilities to get discounts and/or get a lodging for free.

In case of wanting to stay in a nice furnished apartment, here´s also the info:   

A single girl named Dinorah is the owner of this awesome apartment which has all the services included, her place is located in a nice fancy neighbourhood, it has convenience stores near by and transportation. The apt has the following included: Water, gas, electricity, cable, wireless internet, totally furnished with 3 bedrooms that can be shared or private, a nice kitchen with everything in it, a living room, washing and drying machine and a swimming pool. All of these for the low price of $13.00 USD staying in a double room and shared bathroom or $18.00 USD staying in a single room with a private bathroom. This does not include meals at all of course.
